Holy Redeemer, which won conference and subregional titles a year ago, is in the top spot for the season’s first Riverfront Sports Super Six Boys Volleyball Power Rankings of District 2 teams.
The Royals ended last season in the number-one position after going unbeaten in the Wyoming Valley Conference and winning the championship of the District 1-2-11 Class 2A Subregional. Holy Redeemer is 4-0 to tie for first in the WVC this season and 5-1 overall.
Tunkhannock, the team tied with Holy Redeemer, is in the second spot in the rankings, which were released late Friday afternoon.
Unbeaten Abington Heights is third. The Comets are defending Lackawanna League champions.
Berwick, the only team in the season-opening Super Six that was not ranked at the end of last season, is fourth.
Lackawanna League leader Blue Ridge is fifth, followed by defending District 2 Class 3A champion Delaware Valley.
