Janiszewski, Vinton, ground attack lead Wildcats to rout of Chargers

Luke Janiszewski and Josh Vinton led a ground game that cranked out 351 yards and 6 touchdowns and Western Wayne carried a shutout into the fourth quarter of a 38-7 romp at Carbondale Friday night in a non-league game between Lackawanna Football Conference teams.

The Wildcats (4-1) opened leads of 19-0 after one quarter, 25-0 at halftime and 38-0 through three quarters on the way to their third straight victory.

Carbondale fell to 2-3.

Western Wayne averaged 11 yards on its 32 running plays. Janiszewski carried 12 times for 163 yards while Vinton ran 9 times for 113. They each ran for two scores.

Sean Owens and Alex Lucke ran for the other touchdowns.

Janiszewski also made six tackles, including two for losses, and assisted on eight others, along with recovering a fumble to lead a defense that limited Carbondale to six first downs.

Nate Swingle and Paul Guidice were each in on 10 tackles.
