Lansdale Catholic is going back to The Giant Center in Hershey.
St. Joseph’s University commit Gabby Casey made sure of it Tuesday night.
Casey scored 25 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, made 6 steals and dished out 3 assists as the state’s top-ranked Class 4A team handled Scranton Prep, 60-28, in a Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association girls basketball semifinal at William Allen High School in Allentown.
The two-time, all-state guard shot 10-for-17 from the floor, including 4-for-6 on 3-pointers.
Casey scored 14 of her points in the first quarter and had 19 by halftime.
Lansdale Catholic lost to Archbishop Wood in last year’s state championship game.
Scranton Prep’s Rita Collins and Lansdale Catholic’s Casey handled the bulk of their teams’ early scoring.
Collins opened the game’s scoring for the only Scranton Prep lead at 2-0.
Casey scored the next two baskets, putting Lansdale Catholic in front to stay, then hit a 3-pointer and converted a three-point play for 9-4 and 14-4 leads.
Collins scored all eight Scranton Prep first-quarter points, pulling the Classics within 14-8 before.
Casey’s last two baskets of the quarter made it 18-8 after one.
Collins hit a free throw early in the second, giving her the first nine Scranton Prep points. That is where she finished, giving her the team’s high for the game.
Jaida Helm, who finished with 16 points, scored 6 in each of the middle quarters for Lansdale Catholic. It opened leads of 35-15 at halftime and 49-26 going to the fourth.
Helm had eight rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Maya Jenkins added eight points for Lackawanna League Division 1 and District 2 Class 4A champion Scranton Prep, which finished 24-3.
