MMI Prep rode a six-run third inning to an 8-3 victory over Forest City Wednesday in the District 2 Class A baseball championship game.
Freshman Michael Kranyak had two hits and three RBI for the Preppers while David Castro struck out eight in 6 1/3 innings.
Carson Valkusky had two hits and scored twice. He also got the final two outs on the mound.
D.J. Heath and Max Urbas each had two hits for the Foresters while Robert Reynolds drove in two runs.
MMI Prep (6-14) advances to host District 1 champion Jenkintown (11-4) Monday at 4 p.m. in a Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Class A first-round state game.
