Mountain View’s Ryan Henke, who earned all-star recognition during the 2020-21 high school season, is among the players on the NEPA Elite Wignot 17U boys team.
NEPA Elite will has five boys teams for the 2021 season, the second for the AAU program out of Riverfront Sports in Scranton.
The roster for the NEPA Elite Coyle 17U team, which is entered in the Hoop Group Showcase League, was announced earlier.
Owen Wignot coaches the other 17U team. University of Scranton assistant coach Ryan Van Zelst and Northwest boys coach Sean Miller are coaching the two 16U teams. Corey Joyce returns and serves as the 15U coach.
All of the boys teams are playing this weekend in The Hoop Group’s Pittsburgh Jam Fest, which started Friday and continues through Sunday.
Henke was a first-team Lackawanna League Division 4 all-star choice by NEPABasketball.com.
The Wignot team also includes two players each from Scranton and Scranton Prep.
Joseph Walsh and Joshua Williams are the Scranton players while Nico Paoli and Michael Watkins are from Scranton Prep.
The rest of the team is made up of Berwick’s Miles Doll, East Stroudsburg Notre Dame’s Trevor Hardy, Old Forge’s Sean Hill and Pittston Area’s Jack Locker. Locker was also an NEPA Elite player last year.
Danny Nemitz from Mid Valley and Conor Holland are two high school all-stars who return for another year in the NEPA Elite program and are part of the Van Zelst 16U team roster, which is made up entirely of sophomores.
Nemitz is already a two-time, first-team, all-star in Lackawanna League Division 3, according to NEPABasketball.com. Holland averaged more than 20 points per game while landing Cortland County all-star honors.
Karter Kromko from Honesdale and Hayden Hosie from Holy Cross were second-team, all-stars in Lackawanna Divisions 2 and 3.
Gabe Gonzalez, Hosie’s teammate at Holy Cross, is also on the roster.
The rest of the Van Zelst team consists of Lake Black from State College, Dylan Mateus from Tunkhannock, James Pettinato from Scranton Prep and Eli Yusavage from Valley View.
The Miller 16U team includes two players from Valley View, A.J. Kucharski and L.V. Pegula.
North Schuylkill’s Jack Keiter is the team’s only freshman. The other players are all sophomores.
Kole Conforti from Scranton, Sebastian Fermin from Pocono Mountain East, Zach Konopke from Wyoming Valley West, Michael Rhoades from Riverside, Logan Tierney from Holy Cross and Patrick Walsh from Abington Heights round out the roster.
Gabe Tanner, who earned second-team Lackawanna Division 3 all-star honors, is back for another year with NEPA Elite and is one of three Mid Valley players on the Joyce 15U team. Ricky Vinansky, who also started for the Spartans as a freshman, and Jovani Crisafulli are the others.
The 11-player roster is made up of players from four schools, including three each from Abington Heights and Scranton Prep. Gene Curtin, Mason Fedor and Will Marion are the Abington Heights players while Kellen Casey, Joseph Ramey and Chase Scanlan are the Scranton Prep players.
Mikey Cumbo and Nicholas Williams from Dallas are also on the team.
