The spring sports season in District 2 officially got underway Thursday when North Pocono defeated Montrose, 4-1, in the Lackawanna League in the only boys tennis match played.
Boys tennis is allowed to start earlier than other spring sports because there are fewer practices required prior to competition.
The North Pocono-Montrose match wound up being the only one played because of rescheduling and postponement of other possible Lackawanna League openers.
