Gavin Chillot tossed a five-hit shutout and went 3-for-3 Monday afternoon as North Pocono downed West Scranton, 4-0, in a District 2-4 Class 5A Subregional baseball quarterfinal.
Chillot struck out 11 while walking just one batter. He scored a run.
The win sends top-seeded North Pocono (18-2) into Wednesday’s home semifinal against defending champion Selinsgrove (15-5), a Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association state finalist a year ago.
North Pocono and West Scranton were scoreless through 4½ innings before the Trojans scored two runs each in the bottom of the fifth and sixth.
Aidan DeLucy had a two-run double.
Keegan Litts, who drove in one run and scored another, and Chris Walsh also doubled.
Zach Lloyd pitched into the sixth inning for West Scranton and had one of the team’s five singles.
Selinsgrove, which advanced with a 12-2 win over Crestwood, beat North Pocono, 3-2, in last year’s subregional championship game.
