Buckhorns climb; top teams clinch

Ranked teams headed for the stretch run by combining to win 22 of 25 matches in the past week, leading to minimal movement in the latest Riverfront Sports Super Six Golf Power Rankings of District 2 teams.

Wallenpaupack moved up to fifth among the Big Schools, swapping places with Wyoming Area, for the only change in the rankings, which were released late Sunday.

During the week, Lake-Lehman and Abington Heights joined Crestwood as teams that have clinched division championships while Scranton Prep clinched at least a tie for its division title.

Crestwood, the Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1 champion, and Abington Heights, the Lackawanna League Division 1 champ, remained 1-2 in the Big Schools.

Lake-Lehman and Scranton Prep are still 1-2 in the Small Schools. Lake-Lehman has won the WVC Division 2 title. Scranton Prep has clinched no worse than a tie for the Lackawanna Division 2 title.

All four teams are unbeaten in league play.

Hazleton Area and North Pocono follow Crestwood and Abington Heights.

Riverside, Lackawanna Trail, Holy Redeemer and Wyoming Seminary continue to hold down the third through sixth spots, in order, among Small Schools.
