‘Paupack, Valley View climb again

Wallenpaupack and Valley View, two teams that have lost only to each other, gained ground for the second straight week in the Riverfront Sports Super Six Girls Tennis Power Rankings of District 2 teams.

The Lady Buckhorns, Cougars and Crestwood each slid up one spot into third, fourth and fifth among Big Schools when the rankings were released Monday afternoon, just in time for the start of another week of action.

Wallenpaupack and Crestwood each posted significant victories while Valley View extended the district’s longest winning streak to nine matches.

Abington Heights and Wyoming Seminary remained in the No. 1 positions they have held all season.

In the Big Schools, Abington Heights is once again followed by West Scranton.

Unbeatens Wyoming Seminary and Scranton Prep top the Small School rankings where Dallas and Wyoming Area remained third and fourth.

Wallenpaupack knocked former No. 3 Delaware Valley out of the Big School rankings with a 3-2 victory.

Scranton won twice to extend its win streak to four and move into the Big School rankings in sixth.

Crestwood handed Small School No. 3 Dallas its first loss, 3-2.

Tunkhannock moved up from sixth to fifth among Small Schools.

North Pocono rejoined the rankings in sixth and Holy Redeemer dropped out.
