PIAA plans state football quarters

Valley View will be home Friday night, then Old Forge and Scranton Prep will take their perfect records and hit the road to play at neutral sites Saturday afternoon when the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association state football playoffs resume with quarterfinal action.

The PIAA announced the sites, dates and times for the quarterfinals on its website Sunday afternoon.

As expected, Valley View (12-1) will be home Friday night at 7 at John Henzes/Veterans Memorial Stadium in Peckville against District 1 champion and District 1-2 Subregional champion Bishop Shanahan in a Class 4A game. Bishop Shanahan (9-3) is located in Downingtown, in the western suburbs of Philadelphia.

Old Forge and Scranton Prep are both involved in games that match unbeaten district champions against each other.

The Blue Devils head to Danville to face District 4 champion Canton in Class A Saturday at 1 p.m.

The Cavaliers will play District 3 champion Wyomissing in Class 3A Saturday at 2 p.m. The game is being played at Governor Mifflin High School in Shillington, in Berks county in the southwestern outskirts of Reading.
