The games many Lackawanna Football Conference fans have been able to point to all season arrive this weekend, highlighted by the two No. 1 teams in the Gaughan Auto Store Super Six Power Rankings going head-to-head.
Unbeatens meet when Scranton Prep plays at Valley View Friday night with the Lackawanna Football Conference Division 2 title at stake.
Scranton Prep (8-0) has been No. 1 Small School every week since the preseason among Small Schools in the rankings of Lackawanna Football Conference and Wyoming Valley Conference teams on NEPAFootball.com.
Valley View (9-0) needed just two games to take over No. 1 in the Big Schools, a position it has held for seven straight weeks since.
Three of the four LFC division titles come down to head-to-head meetings between ranked teams.
The top half of the Big School rankings are all involved in showdowns for championships.
No. 3 Delaware Valley (6-3) is at No. 2 North Pocono (8-1) for the LFC Division 2 title Friday night.
In the Small Schools, No. 3 Old Forge (8-0) is at No. 6 Lackawanna Trail (6-2) for the LFC Division 4 championship in a game that has been moved up to Thursday with an ominous forecast for the weekend.
The only movement in this week’s rankings is in the Small Schools where Mid Valley defeated Lackawanna Trail, 21-7, to move up from sixth to fifth, swapping spots with the Lions.
Hazleton Area, Dallas and Berwick held fourth through sixth in Big Schools.
Wyoming Area remained second and Lakeland fourth among Small Schools.
