Weinrich, Machado lead DV win

Paulie Weinrich and Ryder Machado each ran for more than 100 yards Friday night as Delaware Valley posted its sixth straight victory, beating visiting Wallenpaupack, 40-17, to set up a final week game for the Lackawanna Football Conference Division 1 title.

The Warriors are 3-0 in the division, tied with North Pocono, and 6-3 overall. They play at North Pocono Friday night for the division championship.

Weinrich carried 16 times for 129 yards and a touchdown in the latest victory. He also blocked a punt and intercepted a pass.

Machado ran 18 times for 118 yards and 4 touchdowns, including 2 in the fourth quarter.

Wallenpaupack closed to within 27-17 on a 35-yard pass from Mabret Levant to T.J. Schmalzle with 10:59 left.

Machado then put the game away when he ran 29 and 18 yards for the last two touchdowns 3:33 apart.

After a scoreless first quarter, Delaware Valley built an 18-point halftime lead.

Weinrich ran 17 yards for a score on the first play of the second quarter.

Delaware Valley forced a turnover and Machado ran 7 yards for another touchdown 48 seconds later.

Roman Levant opened the scoring for Wallenpaupack with a 32-yard field goal 3:23 before halftime.

C.J. Ross threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to Aiden Black with 47 seconds left in the half to give Delaware Valley a 21-3 lead.

Wallenpaupack’s Shadrak Agyei opened the second-half scoring with a 39-yard run with 7:15 left in the third.

Machado scored from the 1 for the first of his three second-half touchdowns to make it 27-10 going to the fourth quarter.

Justin Kalitsnik had an interception and fumble recovery and Black had two sacks for Delaware Valley.
