Riverside’s football team will play at Schuylkill Haven Friday night after twice being forced into adjustments by developments at other schools.
The Vikings were originally scheduled to play Montrose, but the Meteors came out of a season-opening, 64-0 loss at Wyalusing Valley with just 12 healthy players available and canceled the game.
Riverside appeared to have an answer Tuesday when it picked up a Saturday game at Cowanesque Valley. However, Sayre, Cowanesque Valley’s original Northern Tier League opponent for this weekend, became available again, scratching those plans.
Schuylkill Haven and Riverside agreed early Wednesday to meet in a Friday game at Schuylkill Haven.
The Hurricanes are coming off a 21-6 victory over Marian Catholic.
Connor Goehring, a 6-foot-1, 185-pound junior running back/outside linebacker, had a big game.
Goehring ran for 151 yards and a touchdown on 9 carries, had all 3 of his team’s catches for 89 yards and another touchdown, was second on the team with 9 tackles and recovered a fumble.
Riverside raced out to a 21-0, second-quarter lead in its opener and held on to beat Susquehanna, 21-20.
