ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – The NEPA Elite Butler 15U and Sheehan 16U girls teams wound up playing just one game each following schedule adjustments in consolation play Sunday in the Hoop Group’s Championship Weekend.
The Butler team picked up a win while the Sheehan team lost.
Both return to action Monday.
Lily Soller scored all 14 of her points in the first half as the Butler team defeated New Jersey Shoreshots 15U Bennett/Leary, 48-37, to finish 2-1 and in second place in the fourth-team 15U Gold Division Pool D.
Soller started 7-for-9 from the floor and missed just one more shot. She also led the team with six rebounds and four blocked shots.
Elizabeth Viglone joined her in double figures with 12 points.
Soller helped the Butler team to a 26-22 halftime lead and a balanced scoring effort in the second half allowed the lead to expand.
Mackenzie Schirg and Gabby Marsola each had strong all-around games. Schirg supplied eight points, five rebounds and three assists. Marsola had seven points, five rebounds and four assists.
Bella Rebar chipped in with five points and four rebounds while Ella Cooper had four rebounds, two assists and was the only player with two steals.
Rebar and Cooper both play at Valley View. Soller is from Pocono Mountain East, Viglone at Dallas, Schrig at Lackawanna Trail and Marsola at Wyoming Valley West.
The Sheehan team opened play in the 16U HGSL Championship bracket where it suffered a 42-31 loss to United NJ 16U Platinum.
Cadie Lewis from Dunmore hit four 3-pointers for her team-high 12 points.
