Valley View and North Pocono used quarterfinal shutouts to advance to Thursday’s semifinal round of the District 2 Class 4A softball playoffs.
Tunkhannock and Berwick each advanced with wins in which they allowed just one run.
Those results, all wins by the higher seeds on their home fields, set up Thursday’s 4:30 games with fourth-seeded Berwick (15-6) at top seed and defending champion Tunkhannock (20-1) and third-seeded North Pocono (16-5) at second-seeded Valley View (20-1).
Valley View 10, Scranton Prep 0
Taylor Cawley struck out 13 in a five-inning, one-hitter Tuesday for Valley View.
Morgan McVicar and Tessa Stafursky each had two hits and two RBI.
North Pocono 12, Dallas 0
North Pocono got a five-inning, one-hitter from Ella Salak Monday.
The Lady Trojans broke the game open with seven runs in the third inning.
Ainsley O’Donnell, Amanda Burch and Kaylee Whiteford all drove in runs in the third inning and finished with two hits.
Tunkhannock 13, Nanticoke 1
Kaya Hannon, Sydney Huff, Emily Patton and McKenzie Hannon drove in two runs each Tuesday for Tunkhannock, which led 4-0 after one inning, 7-0 after two and 12-1 after three.
Berwick 3, Wyoming Area 1
Katie Caladie doubled in two runs during a three-run third inning to carry host Berwick to Tuesday’s victory.
Giana Berlin, who joined Caladie with two hits each, singled in the other run.
Makayla Brown struck out 10 while holding Wyoming Area scoreless over the first five innings.
