Royals take top spot

Holy Redeemer took control of the Wyoming Valley Conference race and, as a result, has taken over the No. 1 spot in the Riverfront Sports Boys Volleyball Super Six Power Rankings of District 2 teams.

The Royals have defeated the original No. 1 Delaware Valley and lost a non-league match to unbeaten Christopher Dock since the first set of rankings to climb from second to first.

The loss to Holy Redeemer is the only one for Delaware Valley, which slipped from first to second.

Lackawanna League leader Abington Heights lost twice in a non-league tri-match to Holy Redeemer and Christopher Dock, but remained perfect in league play and climbed one spot to third.

Tunkhannock also moved up one position to fourth after posting its fifth straight three-set sweep.

The wins by the Tigers included one over Berwick, which tumbled from third to fifth.

Blue Ridge, the second-place team in the Lackawanna League, remained in sixth.
