Holy Redeemer knocked off the most recent champion in a battle of the Wyoming Valley Conference’s final two boys volleyball unbeatens, winning in straight sets at Delaware Valley.
Will Wasiakowski’s strong all-around effort led a balanced attack that carried Holy Redeemer to a 25-17, 25-20, 25-17 victory.
The Royals entered the match ranked second and the Warriors were first in the initial Riverfront Sports Super Six Boys Volleyball Power Rankings of District 2 teams.
Wasiakowski had 6 kills, 19 assists, 8 service points, 2 aces, 3 digs and 2 blocks.
Matt Prociak was a force at the net with nine kills and six blocks.
Matt Spiccioli had eight kills, an assist and a dig. Matt Albrecht provided seven kills, five blocks, four digs and two assists. Dominic Alberti had eight service points, five digs and two assists. Anthony Strish had seven points, four digs and an assist.
Holy Redeemer won the match between 2019 District 2 champions (the 2020 season was canceled. The Royals improved to 7-0 in the WVC and 8-0 overall. They have won every match in straight sets.
Delaware Valley, which has only played in the conference, is 4-1.
