Sem, Wyoming Area still 1st, 2nd

Wyoming Seminary and Wyoming Area were first and second in all 12 sets of Golden Dome Abstract Super Six Field Hockey rankings of District 2 teams during the 2021 season.

With the start of the 2022 season approaching, the Blue Knights are Lady Warriors are again 1-2 in the preseason rankings, which were released Sunday afternoon.

Wyoming Seminary, which went 22-2 last season, will be trying to extend its record streak of Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association field hockey state titles to five. The Blue Knights are also defending Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1 and District 2 Class A champions.

Wyoming Area reached the state Class A semifinals last season. The Lady Warriors’ only losses in the past three seasons have been against Wyoming Seminary and to Oley Valley in a pair of state semifinals.

The third and fourth spots are also the same as they were at the end of last season.

Defending District 2-4 Class 2A Subregional champion Crestwood is third and Lake-Lehman is fourth.

Wyoming Seminary, Wyoming Area and Crestwood were first, second and third in Division 1 of the WVC last season. Wyoming Seminary then won its fifth straight district title.

The fifth- and sixth-place teams from the end of last season trade places.

Honesdale opens in the fifth spot after losing to sixth-ranked Hazleton Area in last year’s District 2 Class 3A championship game. The teams have split in head-to-head district finals the past two seasons.
