Sports paused at Scranton Prep

Scranton Prep switched to virtual learning Tuesday and suspended all events, including athletics, until Dec. 5.

The Scranton Prep basketball teams have canceled scrimmages scheduled for Saturday. The boys were going to meet Devon Prep and the girls were going to have a tri-scrimmage with Loyalsock Township and Allentown Central Catholic.

Scranton Prep’s football team, the last active fall sport, just completed its season Saturday with a loss in the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Class 3A state quarterfinals.

Winter teams had been able to practice Monday when there were no classes as part of the extended holiday weekend.

When the school switched the virtual learning rather than return to in-person classes Tuesday, sports were shut down.
