The Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association sites and times are set for Monday’s first-round state softball games that are being played within the confines of District 2, even though not all of the pairings are set.
Marywood University will host a doubleheader that includes West Scranton and Tunkhannock in separate games.
Tunkhannock’s home field will be used by Elk Lake.
Hazleton Area will be close to home at Freedom Park in Drums.
More sites and times will be determined as the remainder of the state qualifiers are determined late Friday and Saturday.
Monday’s schedule, with district-place finish and record for each team:
Class 6A – 2-1, Hazleton Area (15-7) vs. 1-3 Haverford (20-4) at Freedom Park, Drums, 3 p.m.
Class 5A – 2-1, West Scranton (12-3) vs. 3-3, Elizabethtown (18-6) at Marywood University, 1 p.m.
Class 4A – 2-1, Tunkhannock (20-2) vs. 4-1, Danville or Shamokin at Marywood University, 3:30 p.m.
Class 4A – If 2-2, Berwick wins Saturday against 11-2, Northwestern Lehigh in play-in game, vs. District 3 champion at a District 3 site, TBD
Class 3A – 2-1, Mid Valley (19-2) vs. 4-1, Loyalsock Township (18-3) or Central Columbia (18-3) at a District 4 site, TBD
Class 2A – 2-1, Elk Lake (17-1) vs. 4-1, Line Mountain or Wyalusing at Tunkhannock, 4:30 p.m.
Class A – 2-1, Old Forge (16-6) vs. 4-1, Northeast Bradford or Montgomery at a District 4 site, TBD
