Donato Stepney and Billy Maloney made sure Scranton got revenge.
Stepney scored three touchdowns and Maloney threw for three Friday night when top-seeded Scranton avenged a regular-season loss with a 42-7 romp over visiting Abington Heights.
The Comets had won the regular-season meeting on their home field, 14-13.
Scranton won the rematch to land the District 2 championship game against Delaware Valley at home at Scranton Memorial Stadium Thursday night. The game was moved up a day from its original schedule because of the forecast of heavy rain on Friday.
Scranton led just 14-7 in the closing seconds of the third quarter before Stepney scored his second touchdown, blocking and returning a punt 15 yards for the score.
The Knights added another touchdown in the opening minute of the fourth quarter on a 14-yard fumble return by Dohnavin Laybourn-Boddie.
Stepney had a pair of touchdown receptions from Maloney, one for the only score of the first quarter, the other for a fourth-quarter touchdown.
Lamaire Saldano broke an 81-yard run to close the scoring.
Maloney also had a 34-yard touchdown pass to Noah Ardestani for a touchdown and 14-0 lead in the second quarter.
Abington Heights closed within 14-7 at halftime when Shawn Theodore hit Mason Fedor with a 40-yard touchdown pass.
Theodore was 16-for-27 for 177 yards and a touchdown.
Abington Heights had a 209-109 lead in passing yardage.
Scranton, with the aid of losses created by its pass rush, had a 320-minus 40 advantage in rushing yardage.
Maloney was 5-for-8 for 109 yards passing while leading the ground attack with 88 yards on 17 carries. Saldano added 81 and Laybourne-Boddie had 79 on 12 carries.
Jacob Martinez was in on five tackles for losses, including four sacks, and also hurried Abington Heights passers three other times. He was in on a total of 10 tackles, second on the team to Craig Pabst with 13.
Nico Bossi had five tackles and four assists while Austin Boersma had four tackles and four assists for Abington Heights.
