A full football schedule is complemented by the top half of the Wyoming Valley Conference all going at each other in girls volleyball Friday.
The 27 games in 5 sports makes it one of the quieter days on the fall schedule in volume, there is plenty of quality there.
Lakeland (1-0 in the division, 6-1 overall) is at Mid Valley (2-0, 6-1) in a game that has a strong chance of determining the Lackawanna Football Conference Division 3 title. Mid Valley, which has already beaten third-place Dunmore, could clinch at least a first-place tie with a win.
Wilkes-Barre Area is at Hazleton Area in a meeting of 4-3 teams to determine the WVC Class 6A/5A Division lead.
Dunmore (3-3) is at Lackawanna Trail (5-1) in a likely preview of the District 2 Class 2A title game when the LFC members meet in a non-league game.
In girls volleyball, the top four teams in the WVC play in two matches and the fifth- and sixth-place teams also go against each other.
Unbeaten Delaware Valley (13-0, 15-0) goes to fourth-place Crestwood (10-3, 12-3).
Berwick (10-1) is at Nanticoke (10-2, 11-2) in a match that not only could decide second place in the WVC – at minimum, it will for now – but also could help ultimately determine which lands the top seed for the District 2-4 Class 3A Subregional.
Dallas (5-3, 6-3) is at Holy Redeemer (9-3, 10-5).
There is also a game between ranked teams in field hockey when Honesdale (5-3, 10-3) travels to Wyoming Area (7-1, 13-1) in WVC Division 1 field hockey.
The schedule also includes three boys and two girls soccer games.
