Two of the top three teams in Wyoming Valley Conference boys volleyball meet in Friday’s top regular-season event and the postseason gets started with a single preliminary round boys tennis team match.
Third-place Delaware Valley (5-1 in the WVC, 7-1 overall) travels to second-place Crestwood (6-1, 6-4) in WVC volleyball.
In the Lackawanna League, second-place Blue Ridge (6-1) is at Western Wayne (4-3, 6-4).
The District 2 Class 2A team tournament opens in boys tennis with ninth-seeded MMI Prep (5-5) at eighth-seeded Wyoming Area (5-4).
The Preppers forced the expansion of the tournament beyond eight teams because the format calls for all teams that finish .500 or better to earn a spot. The teams are playing for the right to travel to unbeaten, top-seed Scranton Prep in Monday’s quarterfinals.
Wyoming Area won the first meeting, 3-2, April 7.
