The Berwick softball team tries to get into the main bracket while the Crestwood boys lacrosse team seeks to go deeper into the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association state tournament in the only action today involving District 2 teams.
The rest of the district’s baseball and softball teams are idle with their break between district championships and Monday’s first round of the PIAA Tournament.
Berwick will play District 11’s Northwestern Lehigh at 4:30 p.m. at Patriots Park in Allentown in a meeting between second-place teams to determine which acquires the final spot in the 16-team Class 4A softball bracket. District 3 passed on the right to have a second representative, opening the spot for either a District 2 or 11 team to claim.
District 2 champion Crestwood is looking to make the semifinals for the second straight time in Class 2A boys lacrosse.
The Comets play District 3 runner-up Susquehannock at noon at Schuylkill Valley High School in Leesport.
Susquehannock defeated Lansdale Catholic, 18-10, in the first round while Crestwood defeated Lewisburg, 17-5.
Crestwood’s trip to the 2019 state semifinals is the best state performance ever by a District 2 lacrosse team.
