Defending champion and early leader Wyoming Seminary takes on one of five teams that is a half-match behind the Blue Knights in the Wyoming Valley Conference girls tennis standings when it hosts Wyoming Area in a 4:15 p.m. match.

Wyoming Seminary, also the defending District 2 and Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association state champion in Class 2A, is off to a 3-0 start.

Wyoming Area, with all its players back from a team that missed the postseason by one match, is 2-0.

Two of the other 2-0 teams meet when Dallas plays at Holy Redeemer.

The Lackawanna League girls tennis schedule includes a city rivalry when Scranton plays at West Scranton.

There are also Lackawanna League golf matches scheduled, along with non-league action in girls soccer, boys soccer, girls volleyball and field hockey.

Wyoming Valley West is at Lake-Lehman at 6 p.m. in a non-league girls game between teams ranked in the preseason Riverfront United Super Six Soccer Rankings of District 2 teams.
