Five games with regular-season championship implications blend in with the juggling for playoff seeding position on the last Friday night of the football season.

Rivals meet with the outright Wyoming Valley Conference Division 2 title on the line when Wyoming Area goes to Pittston Area.

Wyoming Area has made a routine of championships in recent seasons, including in 2019 when it won a Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association state championship, District 2 championship and WVC title all on the Class 3A level.

Pittston Area is looking for its first championship since 2002 and just its second win in 10 tries in the series.

District 2 rushing leader Aaron Crossley is looking for his fifth 300-yard game of the season and fourth straight for Wyoming Area.

Pittston Area quarterback Drew DeLucca is coming off a game in which he threw for five touchdowns in a 51-14 win over Holy Redeemer.

Scranton Prep and Valley View were both 9-0 and on their way to District 2 championships when they met during the same weekend on the same field a year ago for the undisputed Lackawanna Football Conference Division 2 championship. The Cavaliers won that game, 17-10.

Now, following realignment, they will meet again for at least a share of the LFC Division 1 title at John Henzes/Veterans Memorial Stadium in Peckville.

There were no threats of perfect seasons this year. Both the Cavaliers and Cougars lost on Opening Night, but they have each won seven of eight since, including going 4-1 in the division.

The winner will share the title with Delaware Valley unless visiting Abington Heights upsets the Warriors, giving the Scranton Prep-Valley View winner another solo championship.

Lakeland and Old Forge are each assured of at least ties for the LFC Division 2 and 3 titles.

The Chiefs and Blue Devils look to make them outright titles.

Lakeland is at Mid Valley in Division 2 and Old Forge is at Carbondale in Division 3.

In other Lackawanna games: Scranton is at Wallenpaupack in Division 1; Western Wayne is at Honesdale and Dunmore is at West Scranton in Division 2; and Holy Cross is at Riverside in Division 3.

Crestwood has already won the WVC Division 1 title going into its non-league finale at home against North Pocono when it will be seeking an eighth straight win.

Berwick goes to Hazleton Area with the winner joining Dallas in a second-place tie that could also include Wilkes-Barre Area after Saturday’s results.

Non-league games include Lake-Lehman at Dallas and Tunkhannock at Williamsport.
