Maya Jenkins scored 22 points and 4 teammates joined her in double figures Tuesday night as Lackawanna League Division 1 girls basketball leader Scranton Prep overwhelmed winless West Scranton for a 78-16, home-court victory.
The Classics were at better than a 100-point pace for more than three quarters.
Claire McGrath had eight points and Jenkins seven in Scranton Prep’s 28-1 first quarter. Jenkins had seven more in the second for a 55-7 halftime advantage and eight in the third when the lead grew to 76-10.
Rita Collins had six points and Gianna Cafarella five in the first quarter. Collins had 9 of her 12 and Cafarella 8 of her 10 in the first half.
McGrath made three 3-pointers to finish with 11 points while Ashlyn Moore came off the bench to add 10.
Kydasia Deas led West Scranton with five points.
Scranton Prep, the top-ranked Big School in the Riverfront Sports Super Six Basketball Power Rankings of District 2 teams, improved to 7-0 in the league and 13-1 overall. The Classics are unbeaten in Pennsylvania.
