Statistic: Strikeouts by pitcher Kaya Hannon. The rest of the story: Hannon has walked just 31 in 143 2/3 innings. She is 19-5 with a 1.85 earned run average. Hannon has 441 strikeouts in her two high school seasons.

Statistic: Extra-base hits by Gabby Wood. The rest of the story: Wood has a team-high 11 doubles and shares the team home run lead with Paige Marabell. Wood also leads the team with 37 RBI and shares the lead in runs with 29 with Ella McNeff.

The rest of the story: After batting .346 as a team in the regular season, the Lady Tigers improved to .365 during the District 2 tournament and now .387 with 30 hits in three state tournament games, two of which were just five-inning games because of their 10-run victories.
