District 2’s three remaining football teams have learned their quarterfinal opponents, but are awaiting Sunday’s announcement by the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association of the official sites, dates and game times.
Valley View (12-1) will play Bishop Shanahan (9-3), likely at John Henzes/Veterans Memorial Stadium in Peckville, based on policies employed by the PIAA in state first-round games and rules this year on games that involve a team’s entry into state play. Bishop Shanahan defeated Bonner-Prendergast, 14-7, in the District 1-12 Subregional championship game.
Scranton Prep (11-0) will play District 3 champion Wyomissing (13-0) in a battle of unbeatens that is expected to be scheduled at Wyomissing. Wyomissing rushed for 430 yards Saturday in a 55-14 District 3 final rout of Boiling Springs.
Old Forge (11-0) is headed for another battle of unbeatens against District 4 champion Canton (13-0), which knocked out defending state champion Steelton-Highspire, 32-27. The game is expected to be assigned to a neutral field.
