‘Paupack teams join rankings

Both Wallenpaupack teams protected their Lackawanna Track Conference Division 2 leads while also turning in strong invitational performances to join the updated Riverfront Sports Super Six Track and Field Power Rankings of District 2 teams.

The two Wallenpaupack teams, the Dunmore boys and the Holy Cross girls are new to the rankings since the first set was posted a week ago. The new rankings were released Monday afternoon.

Wallenpaupack won the girls title and finished fourth out of more than 20 teams in the boys field of Friday’s Walter Godek Invitational at North Pocono.

The Dunmore boys knocked off previous LTC Division 3 co-leader Lakeland.

Holy Cross kept pace with Lakeland at the top of the LTC Division 3 girls standings.

The North Pocono and Mid Valley boys, along with the Dallas and Lake-Lehman girls, all protected their No. 1 rankings.

Three of the No. 2 teams – Valley View in Big School boys, Wyoming Area in Small School boys and Hazleton Area in Big School girls – also remained the same.

Montrose moved into second in Small School girls. The Lady Meteors and Wyoming Area, the new No. 3, each moved up two places while Lakeland slipped from second to fourth.

Holy Cross joined the rankings in fifth while Holy Redeemer dipped one spot to sixth.

Wallenpaupack debuts in fourth in Big School girls, pushing Abington Heights and Pittston Area down one place each to fifth and sixth and knocking Valley View out of the rankings.

The Crestwood boys traded places with Hazleton Area, moving up one position to take over third among Big Schools.

Wallenpaupack replaced Abington Heights in sixth.

Holy Redeemer suffered its first Wyoming Valley Conference Division 2 loss to Wyoming Area, but used a third-place finish in the Godek Invitational to move up two places to third.

Scranton Prep dropped one to fourth, Dunmore joined in fifth and Lakeland slipped two places to sixth.

Northwest fell out of the rankings.
