WEDNESDAY ROUNDUP: Sem storms past Crestwood, 1-0

An early-season Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1 showdown was cut short Wednesday night.

Wyoming Seminary defeated visiting Crestwood, 1-0, in a meeting of defending District 2 champions that ended in the third quarter because of weather.

Because the second half had started and a team was ahead, the result became official after the teams waited out the weather delay and were unable to resume the game.

Emma Watchilla, who has three goals in Wyoming Seminary’s 2-0 start, scored the only goal to lift the four-time defending division champions to victory.

Wyoming Seminary, which went unbeaten in 2020, is also the defending champion in Class A in District 2 and the state.

Crestwood, the defending district Class 2A champion, came in with the district’s best overall record at 5-0.

Many of the day’s other sporting events, including the entire cross country schedule, were postponed because of weather.
