Scranton Prep placed three players on the Class 3A team when Pennsylvania Sports Writers named their all-state football teams Wednesday and Thursday.
A total of 13 players from District 2 – 8 of them from district championship teams – were recognized, including Delaware Valley sophomore making the team in the largest classification, Class 6A, as a tight end.
Running back London Montgomery, linebacker Michael Golay and athlete Robert Rossi were the players from District 2 champion Scranton Prep named in Class 3A.
Valley View, the district champion in Class 4A, and Lakeland, a Class 3A team, each had two selections.
Running back Connor Hilling and offensive lineman Tyler Swartz represented the Cougars.
Quarterback Dominico Spataro and defensive lineman Lacota Dippre are the Chiefs on the team.
Offensive lineman R.J. Schirg from Lackawanna Trail (Class 2A) and Cyllel Rose from Old Forge (Class A) made the team from other district champions.
District 2’s heaviest representation came in the mid-sized schools, Class 4A and 3A.
Berwick defensive back Dray Wilk and Pittston Area sophomore tight end Adam Shovlin made the Class 4A team.
The Class 3A team also included Wyoming Area offensive lineman Nick Elko.
Many of District 2’s top players will be back next season.
In addition to the two sophomores, Hilling, Wilk, Montgomery, Spataro and Dippre made the team as juniors.
