Drew Sechleer scored 29 points, including a dozen in the first quarter, Tuesday night as Crestwood defeated visiting Shamokin, 57-44, in non-league boys basketball.
Sechleer’s quick start got the Comets out to an 18-10 lead after one quarter. He had 19 by halftime when the Comets led 35-25.
Shamokin contained Sechleer in the third quarter, but Chaz Wright kept the Indians from gaining much ground. Wright had seven of his nine points in the quarter when he accounted for all but one Crestwood point.
The Comets headed to the fourth with a 43-34 lead.
Sechleer then helped close out the win with nine points, including 5-for-5 foul shooting, in the last eight minutes. He finished with three 3-pointers and 8-for-9 shooting from the line.
Brandon Burbank added 10 points for Crestwood
Shamokin was led by 6-foot-6 sophomore Joe Hile, who hit four 3-pointers while finishing with 16 points.
Crestwood’s win was part of a 4-0 night for District 2 teams against opponents from outside the area.

Scranton Prep 55, Williamsport 53
Brycen Martin scored 15 points and Scranton Prep came from 11 points down after one quarter on the road to post the win over the District 4 Class 6A team.
The Millionaires led 18-7 after eight minutes.
James Pettinato added 11 points and joined Martin in hitting 3-pointers while the Cavaliers were completing their comeback in the fourth quarter.
Kellen Casey added nine points, all in the fourth quarter. He was 5-for-7 from the line, including making the first of the two with five seconds left.
Williamsport hurried up court and had a shot at the tie go off the rim.
George Whaley scored 13 points and Chris White had 11 for Williamsport.
Blue Ridge 71, Vestal, N.Y. 64
Connor Cranage had a triple-double of 29 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists to lead Blue Ridge to the out-of-state win.
Dylan Bradley added 20 points and 13 rebounds.
Hazleton Area 39, Harrisburg 36
Luke Gennaro scored 11 points and Sammy Guzman added 10 for Hazleton Area, which came from behind to beat visiting Harrisburg.
North Pocono 59, Wilkes-Barre Area 45
Chris Walsh put visiting North Pocono in front and A.J. Nemitz kept the Trojans there.
Wilkes-Barre Area ran off 13 straight points – the last 5 of the first quarter and the first 8 of the second – to turn a double-figures deficit into an 18-15 lead.
Walsh, who finished with 20 points, then scored 5 in a 9-2 run to regain the lead, 24-20, at halftime. He followed that up with 11 points in the 19-12 third quarter.
Nemitz kept the Trojans ahead with 11 fourth-quarter points on a 3-pointer and 8-for-8 foul shooting.
Keegan Litts added 11 points in the win.
Kahree Ascerno and Vincent Garrety led the Wolfpack with nine points each.
Tunkhannock 62, Western Wayne 32
Josh Brown scored 14 points to lead host Tunkhannock, which opened a 37-16 halftime lead.
Dylan Mateus added 10.
Abington Heights 76, Wyoming Seminary 32
Abington Heights coach Ken Bianchi promised his team would see a faster pace this season and it showed in the opener at Wyoming Semimary.
The Comets led 35-2 after one quarter, reached 45 points by the middle of the second quarter and hit 55 by halftime before slowing down with the game in hand.
Ryan Nealon scored eight points in the first quarter, Nico Bossi had six and Matt Show, Mason Fedor and Robby Lucas had five each.
Nealon hit three 3-pointers while scoring all 13 of his points in the first half. Fedor added 12 and Show 11.
Isaiah Stull had 11 points to lead the Blue Knights.
Nanticoke 42, Pittston Area 40
Nanticoke scored the first 12 points of the second quarter to open an 18-4 lead, then held off a steady comeback bid by host Pittston Area.
Jaidyn Johnson, who led Nanticoke with 16 points, hit both ends of a one-and-one with 13.5 seconds left for a 42-38 lead.
Pittston Area scored with eight seconds left, forced a turnover with 3.8 remaining, but missed a long 3-point try at the buzzer.
Silvio Giardina scored 17 points and Anthony Cencetti added 13 for the Patriots.
Valley View 56, Dunmore 33
A.J. Kucharski and Eli Yusavage scored 13 points each to lead Valley View, which opened a 28-11 lead at halftime at Dunmore.
L.V. Pegula chipped in with 10 points while Kyle Rupp had 8 points and 16 rebounds.
