Champions occupy top two spots

With postseason play heating up, regular-season champions have settled into the top two spots in the Riverfront Sports Super Six Boys Volleyball Power Rankings of District 2 teams that were released Thursday afternoon.

Unbeaten Lackawanna League champion Abington Heights remained in the No. 1 spot.

Wyoming Valley Conference champion Tunkhannock moved up one position to second, its highest ranking of the season.

Playoff action began for District 2 teams Wednesday with a single match in Class 3A and continues Thursday night with four matches in the quarterfinal round to open the District 1-2-11 Class 2A Subregional.

The final week of the regular season led to a shuffle in the rankings with only Abington Heights holding down the same spot as a week ago.

Blue Ridge, the only team to take a set off Abington Heights this season, was swept in the rematch with the league title on the line and dropped one spot to third.

Berwick defeated Holy Redeemer and jumped two spots into fourth.

Holy Redeemer and Delaware Valley each slid down one spot. They now occupy fifth and sixth.
