Joe Sciascia ran for two touchdowns and Preston Machado’s clutch interception highlighted a defensive effort that carried Delaware Valley to its fourth straight victory, a 26-0 shutout of visiting Williamsport in a non-league game between Class 6A football teams Friday night.
Delaware Valley had already opened a 20-0 lead when Machado kept Williamsport from gaining some momentum heading into halftime when he intercepted a pass at the Warriors 3 with 34 seconds left in the first half.
Sciascia opened and closed the scoring. His 3-yard run just 1:12 into the game gave the Warriors a 7-0 lead.
After two long touchdowns, the Warriors protected a 20-0 lead from 3:55 left in the second quarter until 7:46 remaining in the game when Sciascia scored from the 12.
The Warriors scored 13 points in a span of 3:14 midway through the second quarter.
C.J. Ross rolled left and threw back across the field to Tim Kizis on a tight end screen that went 41 yards for a touchdown.
Paulie Weinrich ran up the middle with 3:55 left in the half, cut slightly to the right and took off on an 87-yard sprint for a touchdown.
Delaware Valley improved to 4-3 with the win while Williamsport slipped to 3-4.
