North Pocono graduate Carissa Giordano ran her way into the Clarion University softball record books and onto the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference all-star team.
Giordano set a school single season stolen base record of 16 on the way to recognition as a second-team all-PSAC West Division outfielder.
The sophomore was part of a breakthrough season for the Golden Eagles.
Despite having the final four games of the season canceled because of a COVID-19 situation, Clarion reached double figures in wins for the first time since 2004, going 12-22, including 8-20 in the PSAC West.
Giordano batted .294. By adding 15 walks and 7 hit by pitches, she built a .462 on-base percentage, setting her up to establish the steals record while only being caught twice.
In 31 games, including 25 starts, Giordano finished second on the team with 24 runs scored. She had a double, triple and six RBI.
Giordano made an impressive debut in the shortened 2020 season. She went 2-for-3 with two RBI against University of the Sciences in her first college game and wound up second on the team with a .321 average in 12 games, including 10 starts.
Giving a sign of what was ahead, Giordano led the team in stolen bases, going 4-for-4.
