Emily Romanowski helped the NEPA Elite Scoblick 15U girls team finish strong in the Hoop Group Showcase League.
And, when the season was finished, the HGSL recognized Romanowski as one of its top players.
Romanowski was selected to the second team Monday when the HGSL revealed its 15U all-star selections.
“We had a stretch where we couldn’t get over the hump and I felt like we needed someone to step up,” coach Dave Scoblick said. “Emily had one of those games that she’s had so many times through the years. I’ve had a core group of girls through the years and Emily has always been our quiet leader.”
Romanowski is a rising sophomore at Western Wayne where she started as a freshman and helped the Lady Wildcats to a Lackawanna League Division 2 title.
“Emily leads by example,” Scoblick said. “She always goes 120 miles per hour all the time. She always gives her all, whether she’s playing offense or defense; whether we’re winning or losing.”
With Romanowski leading a balanced attack, the Scoblick team won more often as the season progressed. NEPA Elite advanced to the final four at the HGSL Championships in Atlantic City.
“I just can’t say enough about her,” Scoblick said. “She’s a pleasure to coach. She has those intangibles that you just can’t teach.”
