12 straight titles for Lady Warriors

MOSCOW – Emily Henn had nine kills and nine digs Wednesday to lead unbeaten Delaware Valley to its 12th straight district title with a sweep of Hazleton Area in the District 2 Class 4A girls volleyball championship match at North Pocono High School.

Henn also had five service points and three aces as the Lady Warriors won by set scores of 25-9, 25-18, 25-15.

The first set margin grew when Katherine Quinn put together a streak of nine straight points on her serve, including two on aces.

Hazleton Area kept the third set close early. That changed when Delaware Valley took eight of nine points for a 19-11 lead.

Jazmyne Bates had 16 service points, along with 4 kills and 3 aces for Delaware Valley.

Leah Weinreb had 12 digs, 8 points and 5 aces. Olivia Conza had 20 assists and 3 aces. Ashlyn Oliver and Sara Flick chipped in two kills each.

Geisi Andujar had a team-high five kills for Hazleton Area. Lindsey Barron added nine digs and two kills. Layla Buglio contributed five points and two aces.

Delaware Valley, which is in its first season under coach Karley May, moves into the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association state tournament. The Lady Warriors play their first-round match Tuesday.
