PIAA sets semifinal sites

Mid Valley and Tunkhannock will get to play in a softball doubleheader at Marywood University Monday as they try to qualify for a chance to play in state championship games.

The Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association on Friday released the sites and times for its baseball and softball semifinals.

Mid Valley will return to the site of its Thursday quarterfinal victory, opening with a 2 p.m. game in Class 3A against Central Columbia, the runner-up from District 4.

Tunkhannock plays in Class 4A, tentatively at 4 p.m., vs. District 11 champion Bethlehem Catholic.

There is also a doubleheader for District 2 champions in baseball with Lake-Lehman and Wyoming Area traveling to DeSales University in Center Valley.

Both teams have won there before. Lake-Lehman reached the 2019 state semifinals with a win at DeSales and Wyoming Area won there Thursday.

Lake-Lehman plays Oley Valley, another team that won at DeSales Thursday, in a Class 3A game at 3:30.

Wyoming Area is tentatively set to play at 6:30 against Bonner-Prendergast from Philadelphia in Class 4A.

Another District 2 team is returning to the site of its Thursday quarterfinal triumph.

West Scranton will return to Patriots Park in Allentown, this time to play at 2 p.m. against District 3 champion Lampeter-Strasburg in a Class 5A game.

Riverside, the district’s only unbeaten team, will play Schuylkill Haven in Class 2A baseball at the Mountain Post American Legion field at 4:30 p.m.
