Pigga leads Bucks past Sabers

Danny Pigga ran for two touchdowns and intercepted a pass Friday to lead the way as Dunmore turned back visiting Susquehanna, 35-7, in a District 2 Class 2A football semifinal.

The defending champion Bucks (4-6) advance to play at top-seeded Lackawanna Trail (7-3) for the district title.

Susquehanna scored in the last two seconds of the first half to force a 7-7 tie, but that lasted just 24 seconds into the second half.

Dunmore’s ground game took over after halftime, beginning when Pigga went off the left side, virtually untouched for a 62-yard touchdown on the first play.

Pigga had opened the scoring with a 17-yard run with less than five minutes left in the first half.

Susquehanna converted three third-down situations in a nine-play, 63-yard drive to score before time ran out in the half.

J.J. Rosa hit Jesse DeLousia on a double pass for 31 yards to the Dunmore 26 on third-and-four. Rosa then caught a nine-yard slant pass from Colton Stone on third-and-five.

Following a spike to stop the clock and one incompletion, Stone threw to DeLousia in the left corner for a 12-yard touchdown.

Dunmore pulled away following Pigga’s second touchdown.

Josh Malone ran 37 yards for a touchdown and Thomas Bowen passed 19 yards to Lorenzo Mitchell for a 29-7 lead going to the fourth quarter.

Jake Hickey added a 1-yard touchdown run.

Susquehanna finished 3-8.
