Riverside sophomore Daniel Danilovitz finished 11th and two other District 2 runners were part of a tight pack that grabbed the final eight available state medals Saturday in the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Cross Country Championships Class A boys race on the Hershey Parkview Course.
The top 25 runners in each race earn medals.
Dunmore’s Joseph Cardillo and Montrose’s Nate Sinkovich finished 22nd and 23rd. Cardillo finished one-tenth of a second ahead of Sinkovich and they were part of a group of runners from 18th to 25th place that all came in within two seconds of each other.
Tommy Clark, a Dunmore freshman, missed a state medal by one place in 26th.
District 2 champion Montrose was 10th in the team standings while Blue Ridge finished 14th out of 22.
Hughesville defeated Winchester Thurston, 97-140, for the team title. Montrose posted a score of 280 and Blue Ridge was at 352.
Thomas Smigo from Palisades won the title, covering the 3.1-mile course in 16:31.1.
