Directly, and possibly indirectly, titles will be decided by Wednesday’s action in District 2 sports.
Two of the top three teams in the Riverfront Sports Super Six Wrestling Power Rankings of District 2 teams meet at Delaware Valley with the Lackawanna League Division 1 title on the line.
Third-ranked Delaware Valley (5-0 in the division, 10-3 overall) can repeat its title outright with a win. Second-ranked Abington Heights (4-0, 8-1) can clinch at least a tie for first with a win.
First-place Wyoming Area (4-0, 11-5) can wrap up a Wyoming Valley Conference Division 2 title with a win at last-place Hanover Area (0-4, 2-8).
If Wyoming Valley West (3-1, 9-7) wins at Tunkhannock (1-0, 2-7), it will clinch at least a first-place tie for Hazleton Area, which is 4-0, but has the night off.
Top-ranked Lackawanna Trail (5-0, 5-0) can clinch at least a first-place tie in Lackawanna Division 2 with a win over visiting Mountain View (1-4, 1-5).
The wrestling schedule also includes: Wallenpaupack at Valley View and North Pocono at West Scranton in Lackawanna Division 1; Honesdale at Montrose, Western Wayne at Scranton Prep and Elk Lake at Blue Ridge in Lackawanna Division 2; Crestwood at Wilkes-Barre Area in WVC Division 1; and Lake-Lehman at Nanticoke in WVC Division 2.
The two teams currently tied for first place in WVC Division 2 girls basketball play for the second and final time – unless they again need a playoff like they did last season.
Holy Redeemer (6-1, 9-7) is at defending champion Lake-Lehman (6-1, 10-3).
The top two teams in Lackawanna League Division 2 meet when North Pocono (2-1, 3-8) travels to Western Wayne (5-1, 10-3).
It is Senior Night for the Lady ‘Cats, celebrating a class that won the program’s first Lackawanna League divisional title last season.
There are a total of 10 girls and 2 boys games on the basketball schedule.
