Berths in the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Team Golf Championships will be on the line for three District 2 champions Thursday, beginning at noon at Eagles Mere Country Club.
The Dallas and Scranton Prep boys and Elk Lake girls will all compete in District 2-4 Subregionals.
Dallas faces Selinsgrove in Class 3A. Scranton Prep, the defending state champion which plays Lewisburg, and Elk Lake, which plays Loyalsock Township, are both Class 2A teams.
Each team can use five players. The lowest four scores for boys teams and lowest three for girls teams will determine the medal play scores that decide which team wins and advances to the state tournament.
In addition to winning the match, boys teams have to shoot 400 or better and the girls winner has to shoot 300 or better in order to make it to the PIAA Championships, which are scheduled for Oct. 25 at Heritage Hills Golf Resort in York.
Thursday is also the final day of the regular season with five matches in girls tennis.
There is also action in boys and girls soccer, field hockey and girls volleyball.
Dallas at Crestwood in Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1 boys leads a series of key soccer games on the schedule.
The Mountaineers are in first place at 6-0-1 in the division and are 7-1-1 overall. The second-place Comets are 7-1 and 10-2.
The two teams tied for second in Lackawanna League Division 1 boys meet when Abington Heights (7-1-1, 8-3-1) plays at North Pocono (7-1-1, 11-1-1). The game is set for 5:30 p.m. at the North Pocono Intermediate School stadium in Moscow.
Elk Lake (7-2, 9-2) is at Riverside (5-3) in a game between the second- and third-place teams in Lackawanna Division 3 boys.
Dunmore (7-2) is at Western Wayne (6-2, 6-3-1) in a game between two of the five teams within 1½ games of the Lackawanna Division 2 girls lead. Dunmore is tied for third and Western Wayne is fifth.
