A full Lackawanna League schedule of Thursday boys golf matches gets off to an early start with a 9 a.m. meeting of ranked teams at Glen Oak Country Club.
Abington Heights, the top-ranked Big School in the preseason Riverfront Sports Super Six Golf Power Rankings of District 2 teams, is home against No. 6 Wallenpaupack.
Both teams are 1-0 in the Class 3A Division and a half-match behind Honesdale, which is 2-0 going into its match at West Scranton.
Abington Heights won the title, beating 20 other Lackawanna teams, Monday in the Bob Simons Classic, named after the Wallenpaupack coach, who is in his 52nd season.
Wallenpaupack tied for 10th at the Simons tournament, but has since defeated Delaware Valley, the team it tied with, 9-0, in a match play league opener.
The Buckhorns and Comets combined for half of the players to shoot in the 70s at the Simons Classic.
Wallenpaupack’s Kevin Wortmann played the back nine in even par to finish at 4-over, 76.
Abington Heights was led by Cade Kelleher, Robert Munley and Luke Morgan with 77, 78 and 79.
