Three teams get to ease into title defenses by opening against opponents that finished last in the division a year ago. Lackawanna Division 1 and 2 champions Scranton Prep and Riverside are home against Honesdale and Holy Cross. Lackawanna Division 3 champion Lackawanna Trail is at Old Forge.
Scranton Prep is also the defending Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association state and District 2 champion in Class 2A.
Abington Heights, the defending District 2 champion in Class 3A, opens with a Lackawanna Division 1 match at home against Wallenpaupack.
Carbondale returns from a fall season off for its entire sports program because of the pandemic and hosts Mid Valley in Lackawanna Division 3.
More Wyoming Valley Conference teams get started Friday as well, including defending Division 3 champion Holy Redeemer at Wyoming Area.
