Dallas holds off Williamsport

Dallas did all its scoring in the first half, then limited host Williamsport to a field goal each in the third and fourth quarters Friday night to post a 27-20 victory in a non-league football game between Wyoming Valley Conference teams.

Parker Bolesta opened the scoring on a 2-yard run on the game’s first possession and the Mountaineers never trailed while improving to 3-2.

After Williamsport tied the game for the last time, Zach Paczewski put Dallas ahead to stay by returning an interception 25 yards for a touchdown and 14-7 lead after one quarter.

Jackson Wydra threw for one touchdown and ran for the other during the second quarter when Dallas extended the lead to 27-14 at halftime.

Wydra stepped up from the pocket, then dumped a short pass off to Rocco Ormando, who slipped several tackles while working his way down the right sideline for a 40-yard touchdown.

The last Dallas score came on a 5-yard run by Wydra.

Williamsport held the ball for the entire third quarter, but had to settle for a field goal on the last play of the quarter.

The Millionaires had the ball most of the second half, but could not produce a touchdown.

Each team has already played two overtime games this season, but the Dallas defense made sure another would not be necessary.

Williamsport dropped its second straight game to fall to 3-3.
