The Abington Heights singles combination of Bella Peters, Susan Arp and Faith Bennett completed 6-0, 6-0 sweeps Monday as the top-seeded Lady Comets advanced to the District 2 Class 3A team girls tennis semifinals with a 5-0 victory over Pittston Area.
Scranton Prep also advanced with a 5-0 victory over Valley View in Class 2A where Dallas defeated Holy Cross, 4-1, in the other quarterfinal played Monday.
Hanna Adonizio-Mary Booth and Bernie Mullin-Elina Joshi won in straight sets in doubles for Abington Heights.
Defending champion Scranton Prep moved into Thursday’s semifinals where it will face Dallas, which has won 12 straight since losing its opener.
The Mountaineers swept doubles in the win over Holy Cross.
Caroline Stallard and Audrey DelGaudio won in straight sets in the first two singles spots. Janet Federici-Danielle Blessner won at first doubles while Chloe Dudick-Lexi Mikolosko pulled out a three-set win at second doubles.
Scranton Prep got wins from Alyssa Wigley, Annie Johnson, Leelah Farrell and the doubles teams of Ella Cohen/Sofia Flores-Weidner and Sarah Aubrey-Grace Devine.
