MONDAY ROUNDUP: Del Valley, Wolfpack post girls soccer wins

Regan Curraba’s goal in the second overtime allowed defending champion Delaware Valley to knock visiting Scranton Prep out of the early Lackawanna League Division 1 girls soccer lead with a 3-2 victory.

Sage Henry scored twice in regulation for the Lady Warriors, who improved to 2-0 in the division and 4-0 overall.

Lilly Reilly and Maria Belardi had the goals for Scranton Prep (2-1).

Brynn Stiles scored twice as Abington Heights defeated Valley View, 4-0, in a Lackawanna Division 1 game that was halted with 16 minutes left because of lightning.

In other Lackawanna Division 1 games: Honesdale defeated Scranton, 2-1; and Wallenpaupack shut out North Pocono, 1-0.

Krsytal Haertter and Esabella Mendola scored as Wilkes-Barre Area ruined the Wyoming Valley Conference Division 1 opener for defending District 2 Class 3A champion Berwick, 3-0.

The Wolfpack also benefitted from an own goal while limited Berwick’s scoring chances throughout the game.

Wilkes-Barre Area and Wyoming Valley West, which defeated Hazleton Area, 2-1, share the division lead at 3-0.

Megan MacNeely had a hat trick as Dallas blanked Pittston Area, 5-0, in the other WVC Division 1 game.

Tangi Smith scored four goals and Riley Keihl added three as Montrose shut out Holy Cross, 8-0, in Lackawanna Division 2.

Mountain View defeated Dunmore, 2-1, in the other Lackawanna Division 2 game.

Elk Lake shut out Carbondale, 7-0, in Lackawanna Division 3.

Holy Redeemer defeated Nanticoke, 5-1, in WVC Division 2.

BOYS SOCCER

Cole Kaiser had two goals and two assists as Lake-Lehman defeated Nanticoke, 9-1, in WVC Division 2.

Evan Kaiser also scored twice.

In other WVC Division 2 games: Holy Redeemer edged Nanticoke, 2-1, and Wyoming Seminary routed MMI Prep, 12-3.

Tommy Clark had a goal and an assist as Dunmore defeated Gregory the Great Academy, 3-2, in Lackawanna League Division 2.

Brian Santarsiero and Maynor Castro-Lemus also scored for the Bucks.

Wyoming Area shut out Wilkes-Barre Area, 3-0, in a non-league game.

GIRLS TENNIS

Delaware Valley edged Mid Valley, 3-2, in a Lackawanna League match.

Holy Redeemer shut out Berwick, 5-0, in the WVC.

In non-league matches: Honesdale blanked Tunkhannock, 5-0, and Jim Thorpe defeated MMI Prep, 4-1.
