Caleb Kenyon from North Pocono covered the 3.1-mile Hershey Parkview Course in 16:03.6 Saturday afternoon to complete his high school cross country career with a third-place state medal in Class 3A boys at the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Championships.
Kenyon’s time would have been good enough to win the Class A title and was the fifth-best put up all day at the state championships.
North Pocono finished 14th out of 22 teams entered in the race.
Kenyon followed Butler teammates C.J. Singleton and Drew Griffiths to the finish line.
Those three set the pace throughout for the 239-runner field.
They were joined by one other runner at the first mile mark, but by the midway point, they were established as the first three runners and they remained there the rest of the way.
Singleton won in 15:52.9, followed by Griffiths in 15:58.1.
They led Butler to a fourth-place finish.
North Allegheny beat out La Salle College High, 63-125, for the team title.
Aiden Horne from North Pocono was District 2’s second-best finisher in the race, taking 32nd.
The top 25 individual finishers earned medals.
