Trojans shut down Buckhorns

North Pocono’s defense limited Wallenpaupack to 22 yards rushing and 70 yards total offense Friday night along with providing the clinching score in a 13-6 road victory in the Lackawanna Football Conference Division 1 opener.

The Trojans carried a 7-6 halftime lead all the way through the third quarter until A.J. Ambrosecchia returned a fumble 7 yards for a touchdown and the game’s last points early in the fourth quarter.

North Pocono won its third straight to improve to 4-1 overall. Wallenpaupack dropped its third straight to slip to 2-3.

The Trojans took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter when Will Soma threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Dan Smith.

Wallenpaupack pulled within 7-6 late in the half on its own 10-yard touchdown pass, from Mabret Levant to Jordan Santiago.

North Pocono preserved the lead by blocking the extra point.

The Trojans controlled the Buckhorns offense, pinned them at the 14 following a punt, then turned that into the last score.
